Armoured plate in a Regelbau 630 (Landfront V.B. Vlissingen)

This double plate with a total thickness of 20cm in a Regelbau 630 beloning to the "Landfront" of "Verteidigungsbereich Vlissingen" consists of two armoured plates of 10cm thickness placed behind each other. The plates are successively a 726P3, Stahlvorsatzplatte f. 7P7 and a 7p7, Stahlscharteplatte (MG).

The proportions of both plates are 3,40m by 2,70m and the weight of each is 7500 kg. This combination is the type where the firing-opening en observatiomn-opening have to be closed with an armoured slide.
The machine-gun (e.g. a sM.G.37 (t)) was placed on a specially designed carriage (Festungs Lafette).
It's striking that during action the firing- and observation-opening are not gas proof, which of course can be very dangerous during combat when gas can be used.
