Batterie Dietl
Batterie Dietl Austråt Fort M.K.B Fjell Batterie Vara M.S.B. Trondenes

Batterie Dietl Museum is located at the west side of Engeløya in Steigen, 3.5 hours drive north of Bodø. It is one of Europe's largest coastal fortresses from WWII. Here was located three of the so-called Adolf-cannons (40.6 cm), all removed in 1956. One of the large cannon bunkers has been turned into a museum that gives a good impression of the wartime atmosphere. Model of the cannon. Exhibitions. Guided tour. Multimedia. Small café. Excellent view over the Vestfjorden and the Lofoten Islands, above which the midnight sun performs its magic dance in midsummernights. Large outdoor recreation area. The beautiful beach Bøsanden (1.5 km long) nearby. Water temperature July/August1998: +21C, believe it or not!
