The Germans constructed 4 large bunkers for storing, preparing and launching
the V2:
- Wasserwerk 2 (aka Ersatz Bauvorhaben 8, Minenlager, Oelbunker Cherbourg),
Brécourt. This is the same object as the one in the V1 section. The purpose
changed from V2 to V1 launch site.
- Reservelager West (aka R.L.W., Bauvorhaben 51, 1352, B 51) in Brix/Sottevast.
- Kraftwerk Nordwest (aka Eperlecques I,
Eperlecques II, K.N.W., K.N.W. Alt, Mannschaftsbunker) in Éperlecques/Watten
- Schotterwerk Nord West (aka Frontlager
Schotterwerk Nord West, Wizernes I, Wizernes II, Bauvorhaben 21, B 21, S.N.W.,
K.N.W. neu, Ersatz K.N.W., 1302) in Wizernes.
In relation to the Wizernes site, there is special construction in a place
called Roquetoire (codenamed
Umspannwerk C). It was
used for guidance of the V2 rocket.
