Verteidigungsbereich Den Helder
Verteidigungsbereich Den Helder was located in the Nord-west
of Holland (K.V.A. Schagen). The division that
was located in this "Küsten-Verteidigungs-Abschnitt was the
347. I.D. On 25.3.45 a total of 81 St. bunkers
were build, two were planned and one was commissioned.
Navy Coastal-Batteries
The Navy built four medium batteries, which were manned by
personell from the M.A.A. 607. The headquarters
of the M.A.A. 607 was located just south of Kijkduin and was
placed in a M 152, Marko-Stand. The batteries were:

Only one battery remains today and that is M.K.B. Zanddijk.
The two gunbunkers (Type M 219, Stand für 15cm S.K.C/28
in Drehhaube C/34) can still be found (on one of them is
an observationplatform). The Leitstand of the type M 120,
Leitstand für eine 17cm Batterie, has completely vanished.
Navy A.A.-Batteries
The Navy also built three heavy Anti-Aircraft batteries, which
were located on three old Forts (Erfprins, Dirksz Ddmiraal en
Vangdam) The batteries were manned by the M.Fl.A. 808,
which had it's headquarters just outside Fort Kijkduin. The
bunkers built were a Fl 250, Flakgruppenkommandostand
with a 6m high observationtower and five M 151, Unterstand für
1-3-24 (1 officer, 3 NCOs and 24 privats). Four of the M 151's
were built two by two. The batteries were:

M.Fl.B Dirkz Admiral
The Marine Flak Batterie Dirkz Admiral is located on the old
Fort Dirks Admiraal, at the southside of Den Helder. The battery
was well built with all the bunkers in the bombproof-catagory
(St.). There were four emplacements (type Fl 243, Schwere
Flakstellung 401, Geschützstand für 8.8 oder 10.5 )
built on the roof of a personell/ammunition-bunker (type L
cm Flak(type Fl 244, Schwere Flak I- und ). One
of these combinations was connected to the fire-controlpost II-Leitstand24
privat's, three NCOs and one Officer ) by a tunnel. The other
bunkers built were a personell-bunker for (type ammunitionbunkers
(type Fl 246, Munitionsauffülraum M 151,
Mannschaftsunterstand für 1/3/24), two large für
Schwere Flak-Batterie242, Flakeinheitsstand für mittlere und
leichte Flak) for a ), two A.A.-bunkers (type Fl
light A.A.-gun and a bunker for machinery (Maschinenzentrale
für Flak)Fl 245,
Radar
The Luftwaffe erected a Mammut-radarstation a couple of
kilometers south of Kijkduin, the bunker built was of the type
L 485, Unterstand für Mammut.
Other objects
A Hospital was constructed at the "Julianapark" and
was camouflaged as a house. The bunker can still be found there
and is a Regelbau 638, Kleiner Sanitätsunterstand.
A Communicationbunker was built next to the t postoffice and is
of the type Regelbau 616, Großschaltstelle
(also still present).
At the nordside of the two the germans built an anti-tankwall
with bunkers for anti-tankguns (Regelbau 625B) and for
machineguns (Regelbau 630B). At the southside of Den Helder a Landfront
was build which started at Julianadorp Aan Zee with a series of
"dragons- theet" (Höckerhindernisse). Along the
Landfront 23 St. bunkers were build. Some of these bunkers are
demolished, but at least two Regelbau 680's, two Regelbau 504's
and some Regelbau 134/502/621 can still be found.
